5 steps to create a Positive KARMA for yourself.

“Our soul’s journey and our Karma goes hand in hand.”- Kajal Soni

There was a point in life when my most inquisitive question about life was to know what KARMA is.

As life kept becoming difficult, I repetitively hunted internally and externally just to know what does real KARMA mean.

Funny enough, everyone has a very different opinion which they present in their own way depending on the extent of understanding of life they have. But, there definitely isn’t any black or white answer that any amount of googling or reading gave me (or, at least, all the answers that I have been able to find were different and very ‘greyish’).

What is Karma?

After reading and reading about Karma, I finally decided to give it an expression in my own words and the name that I gave for Karma is our Life’s Balance sheet.
A balance sheet with 2 sides; one side is the assets, and another side is the liabilities.

Sounds very simple, isn’t it? But here is the catch!
This isn’t just an everyday, simple, basic and easy to understand balance sheet; where if your assets side outweighs your liabilities side, your Net Position shows a profit, and you are floating in a good position.

All assets and liabilities of our Karmic Balance sheet are continually addressed by the law of karma. In simple terms, this means that just because your positive (assets) side outweighs the negative (liabilities) side, doesn’t still mean that you have nothing to lose and your net position is Pure Profit.

Your liabilities side will still be addressed one by one, and you are accountable to pay them off one step at a time. There is absolutely no escape from your liabilities or your negative actions (and I am talking about both conscious and subconscious) even though you have an equal amount of positive accomplishments written against them.

The only way you can have an entirely positive karmic balance sheet (where the ‘Net result’ shows profit ONLY) is by having all your actions written on the assets side and having the liabilities side like a clean chalkboard.

And, that my friend, is the perfect catch to this balance sheet, which is why it’s not so easy to deal with.

‘We are perfect’ so why do we have to go through painful events/Karma?

Well. Let’s accept it. Like many of us, I always thought the same.
‘I never did anything wrong to anyone, then why me?

This was an ongoing internal chat with my soul when my life turned upside down after a painful divorce.

Gradually as I developed myself in my meditation practice more and more, I realised the law of Karma couldn’t just be as simple as what we only see.

If I pause you for 60 seconds and ask you to give a quick thought and ask yourself - Do we all really know how our old karmic balance sheet looked like? Have you or me has ever seen it before?

Don’t you think it’s entirely possible that we all may have created a much stronger negative (liabilities) side even in our present lives?

Ok yes, I agree- a lot of us will still not acknowledge to this. You may again think that there is absolutely nothing that you remember that could pass for being recorded on the liabilities side - but hey, that’s our conscious mind answering. But what about those actions that we perform sub-consciously a lot of times in our life?

Sub Conscious? Conscious? Now, what the hell is this about?

In the simplest terms, our conscious actions/deeds are the ones that we do consciously with wide open eyes to ensure we don’t hurt anyone and please everyone, look after others and be the best version of ourselves to other people. A lot of times, we do it, for example at the beginning of any relationship, or when we are out in a social gathering etc.

Our subconscious responses are our natural instant responses to situations. There are times when we respond in ‘not so nice’ ways to the situations that do not go the way we desire. Maybe it’s towards people who are not behaving our way or maybe it’s our immediate aggressive/negative reactions because of just random things not falling in its place. These instant responses usually originate from our subconscious which is kind of behaving from its natural instinct without thinking much about it’s good or bad consequences.

A perfect example of this is our responses within a long-term relationship whether with a partner or even a friend where we usually don’t give a thought before reacting. If we do acknowledge the truth, there can be many times, we don’t often behave or act the way we would have – had we thought about it for 5 minutes with a calmer, clearer mind.

So, now that we know, where our ‘so-called’ suffering may be coming from, that leaves us with one big question popping out of the cloud bubble from our head, and that is how the hell is this achievable? Is it really possible to achieve a positive karmic balance sheet?

Accepting the long cycle of Karma

Acceptance is the hardest lesson. It is the first and the most crucial step in achieving anything good for the rest of our lives. And that not just applies to accepting the cycle of karma, but to anything in life.

Acceptance means embracing change. By 'change'; I mean change in the ways we think because our mind is where everything starts. Changing our thoughts is the first step towards a new beginning.

If we accept that the cycle of karma may be running from years and years of our soul journey, it becomes easier to accept why our destiny might be the way it is today.
Once we accept, we will stop fighting with ourselves and will start to think of ways we can change our own destiny.

Understanding that even if your conscious mind tells you - ‘I didn’t perform any negative Karma in this life’ doesn’t mean its necessarily true

The biggest reason why I say this is because of our ego.

Our ego is our best friend and our biggest enemy. Unfortunately, it will never let us acknowledge that may be sub-consciously we gathered some liabilities in our current lives.

We need an understanding of how our own ego functions. Listening to our soul, our intuition for guidance and the correct answers, but at the same time still respecting the presence of this friend, will ensure you do actions that will place you into the right side of the balance sheet.

Determining to make a conscious change

Once we have the acceptance, then change is possible. And like I said before; change has the power to twist lives beautifully. But here, having patience is the key. No significant changes will happen in one day. All revisions have to start small.

“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.  Tiptoe if you must, but take the step.” – Naeem Callaway

Monitoring your progress

Once you start building a persistent cycle of consciously created positive thoughts, it is essential to pause every now and then and check for your development.
Here at this point, you still must acknowledge that your friend ‘EGO’ is still present within you and so Its crucial that you continuously check within yourselves to see if you are on track and how far those changes have been implied on your life.

Automatically once you start making positive changes, your external environment will begin to change- you need not worry about that.

And the day you feel that change is the day you have started to get your balance sheet working towards Profit.

Maintaining an ongoing cycle of assets

With your consciously created positive cycle, slowly and gradually your assets will start outweighing the liabilities side.

As time progresses, it’s contrary will be wiped off and all you will be left with will be the positive asset side.

That is where the achievement happens. When all you will have is nothing but Pure Profit.

----
Surely it takes time to reach there. But understand and remind yourselves that no big success happens just the same day as the seeds are planted.

As long as we keep walking and we know where we want to reach, we will finally get there.

The process might be slow, but as long as you do not give-up, success is always guaranteed.
Even if it feels like baby steps, I will say just keep your foot ahead. Do not worry how long it will take and do not self-doubt if you will ever be able to make it.
If you have the will to do it before it is time to the leave the planet, you will surely be able to taste the profitable success of your Balance Sheet.
